I am a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, licensed to practice in the State of Washington. I have experience working on an outpatient basis with children, teens and adults. I have also worked with acutely ill adult clients in a number of inpatient facilities. I hold Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana, and have worked in the nursing profession since 1998.
I believe in a collaborative approach. It is essential to collaborate with a client’s counselor, Family Physician and other health care providers in order to treat most mental health concerns effectively. I will usually prescribe medications only when clients are actively involved in some form of counseling.
I believe in treating clients holistically, as unique, complex individuals and not simply based on DSM diagnoses. For this reason, treatment concerns may need to be addressed including, nutrition, exercise, spirituality and recovery in conjunction with psychiatric medication management. This is especially important in the treatment of children.
